# The Hutterite Chronicles

From 1560; continued through 1665 · Overview

The supplied overview describes the beginning of an official Hutterite chronicle in 1560 at Austerlitz in Moravia. The work gathered accounts of the community’s beginnings, leaders, migrations, and suffering for preservation by later generations.

Its history continued through successive writers and supplements. The page therefore marks a sustained work of recording community memory, rather than treating the chronicle as one event or assigning every passage the date at which the compilation began.
