# Anna Jans

1539 · Overview

Anna Jans is the woman remembered in the supplied edition as Anna of Rotterdam. The account preserves the testament she gave to her son Isaiah on 24 January 1539, as she prepared to die for her faith.

Her letter sets her suffering alongside that of Christ, the prophets, apostles, and earlier witnesses. She urges her son to follow the way of the Lord and seek the faithful, even when their fellowship is despised. Its many biblical references make the account both a mother’s farewell and an instruction in discipleship.
