# Hans Landis

1614 · Overview

Hans Landis was a Swiss teacher who continued ministering when the Zürich authorities ordered him to stop. Martyrs’ Mirror describes his arrest, release from an earlier imprisonment, renewed examination, and execution by beheading in September 1614.

The account presents his refusal to abandon those he served as obedience to God. A following section preserves a later witness’s recollection of his appearance and death. Together they connect a named minister and congregation to the longer history of persecution and refuge among the Swiss Brethren.
