# Thieleman J. van Braght

1660 · Overview

Thieleman J. van Braght gathered the accounts, letters, confessions, and exhortations that make up Martyrs’ Mirror. He organized Christian witness century by century, bringing the testimony of the early church and medieval believers together with the sufferings of the Anabaptists.

His addresses to fellow believers make the collection a call to faithful discipleship. The valedictory is signed at Dort on 31 July 1659, and the address introducing the second part also bears his name and the year 1659. These authorial passages show his purpose in his own words, alongside the timeline’s 1660 publication milestone.
