# Chortitza

1789 · Anabaptist history · Overview

Prussian Mennonite families established the settlement near the end of the eighteenth century. Letters dated 1789 and later correspondence preserved in the archives connect settlers with the churches they had left.

The Old Colony name distinguishes Chortitza from later settlements. The chart follows colony-based church histories and migrations from this background into Canada and Latin America.
