# General Conference Mennonite Church 1860 ยท Overview The General Conference Mennonite Church developed a cooperative conference history alongside the older Mennonite Church. The exhibit dates its organization to 1860 and follows its educational, mission, and congregational life. The two bodies retained distinct histories before their U.S. congregations formed Mennonite Church USA in 2002. The archive preserves the historical General Conference name so readers can understand the source chart. Institutional records provide further detail on the congregations and agencies involved. - [Supplied timeline photograph 9379](https://github.com/trueChristian/history.truechristian.church/blob/main/sources/church-history/photos/IMG_9379.jpg) - [Mennonite Church USA: historical overview](https://www.mennoniteusa.org/who-are-mennonites/history/) - [Mennonite Church USA: historical archives](https://www.mennoniteusa.org/historical-archives/) --- Page: https://history.truechristian.church/en/traditions/general-conference/ [Contribute a correction or addition](https://github.com/trueChristian/history.truechristian.church/issues/new?title=Correction%3A+General+Conference+Mennonite+Church&body=%23%23+Page+or+topic%0AGeneral+Conference+Mennonite+Church%0A%0APage%3A+https%3A%2F%2Fhistory.truechristian.church%2Fen%2Ftraditions%2Fgeneral-conference%2F%0A%0ARecord%3A+general-conference%0A%0ADate+currently+shown%3A+1860%0A%0A%23%23+Correction+or+addition%0A%0A%0A%0A%23%23+Sources+and+evidence%0APlease+include+book%2Fpage+references%2C+archive+links%2C+or+first-hand+documentation.%0A%0A%0A%0A%23%23+Image+credit+%28if+applicable%29%0ACreator%2C+source%2C+and+permission+or+public-domain+basis.%0A%0A%0A%0ASubmitted+for+review%3B+this+issue+does+not+publish+changes+automatically.)
