# Mennonite Brethren

1860 · Overview

The Mennonite Brethren arose through renewal among Mennonites in the Russian Empire. The tradition later developed across national boundaries.

The institutional history describes renewal and home Bible-study groups in the Molotschna settlement. In 1860 a distinct church organization emerged. Later migrations and mission activity carried the tradition beyond the Russian Empire. The exhibit’s other Brethren names belong to separate histories and are linked separately in the explorer.
