# Reinländer Mennonites in Manitoba

1875–1925 in Manitoba · Overview

The exhibit lists Reinlander among its Old Colony Groups. The Reinländer Mennoniten Gemeinde was organized in Manitoba in 1875 under elder Johann Wiebe of Rosengart. Its members included immigrants from the Chortitza and Fürstenland colonies, which explains the related Alt-Kolonier or Old Colony designation.

The church also came to care for settlements in Saskatchewan. Its organization brought together elders, ministers, deacons, and congregational records in the new Canadian setting. The historical body ceased to exist in Canada after 1925 as migration and reorganization changed the community. This entry identifies the named fellowship within the broader Old Colony line instead of treating every colony-based group as interchangeable.
