At Haarlem in Holland, in the year 1570, a
woman, named Barber Jans, was apprehended, because
she had apostatized from the Romish church,
and endeavored to be a follower of Christ; who,
having boldly confessed her faith, and firmly adhering
to it, was sentenced to death on the 13th
of February, and secretly drowned for the Gospel’s
sake, and then burned to ashes.
