# Joris Van Meesch And Jacob Lowijs, About 1570. 16th century (source section) · Historical source Source: Martyrs’ Mirror. Original heading: JORIS VAN MEESCH AND JACOB LOWIJS, ABOUT 1570. Century of containing source section; exact event date not assigned Christ says to his disciples: The brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. Matt. 10:21,22. This also appeared about the year 1570 (for we do not know the exact time), when two pious followers of Christ, named Joris van Meesch and Jacob Lowijs, were apprehended at Ghent, in Flanders, where, after many temptations and severe threats (from the papists) they were put to death, testifying to and confirming the faith of the eternal truth with their blood. Hence, they shall at the last day be graciously accepted of God, and receive the crown of eternal glory at the hand of the Lord. I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. 808 --- Page: http://history.truechristian.church/stories/mm-joris-van-meesch-and-jacob-lowijs-about-1570/ [Contribute a correction or addition](https://github.com/trueChristian/history.truechristian.church/issues/new?title=Correction%3A+Joris+Van+Meesch+And+Jacob+Lowijs%2C+About+1570.&body=%23%23+Page+or+topic%0AJoris+Van+Meesch+And+Jacob+Lowijs%2C+About+1570.%0A%0APage%3A+http%3A%2F%2Fhistory.truechristian.church%2Fstories%2Fmm-joris-van-meesch-and-jacob-lowijs-about-1570%2F%0A%0ARecord%3A+mm-joris-van-meesch-and-jacob-lowijs-about-1570%0A%0ADate+currently+shown%3A+16th+century+%28source+section%29%0A%0A%23%23+Correction+or+addition%0A%0A%0A%0A%23%23+Sources+and+evidence%0APlease+include+book%2Fpage+references%2C+archive+links%2C+or+first-hand+documentation.%0A%0A%0A%0A%23%23+Image+credit+%28if+applicable%29%0ACreator%2C+source%2C+and+permission+or+public-domain+basis.%0A%0A%0A%0ASubmitted+for+review%3B+this+issue+does+not+publish+changes+automatically.)
