# Of An Edict Of Those Of Deventer Against (Among Others) The So Called Mennonists Or Anabaptists, A. D. 1620. 1620 · Historical source Source: Martyrs’ Mirror. Original heading: OF AN EDICT OF THOSE OF DEVENTER AGAINST (AMONG OTHERS) THE SO CALLED MENNONISTS OR ANABAPTISTS, A. D. 1620. Source heading; not independently verified When the year sixteen hundred and twenty, after the birth of Christ had come, the aforesaid magistrates emitted an edict, not only against the Romanists (from whom they had formerly suffered persecution themselves), but also against the Mennonites or Anabaptists, who had always shown themselves peaceable and friendly toward and among them, whereby they prohibited, among others, also the assemblies of the Anabaptists, yet not on pain of death. That this may be well understood, we shall correctly copy the edict; as far as it is directed against the Anabaptists, and present it to the impartial reader. --- Page: http://history.truechristian.church/stories/mm-of-an-edict-of-those-of-deventer-against-among-others-the-so-called-mennonists-or-anabaptists-a-d-1620/ [Contribute a correction or addition](https://github.com/trueChristian/history.truechristian.church/issues/new?title=Correction%3A+Of+An+Edict+Of+Those+Of+Deventer+Against+%28Among+Others%29+The+So+Called+Mennonists+Or+Anabaptists%2C+A.+D.+1620.&body=%23%23+Page+or+topic%0AOf+An+Edict+Of+Those+Of+Deventer+Against+%28Among+Others%29+The+So+Called+Mennonists+Or+Anabaptists%2C+A.+D.+1620.%0A%0APage%3A+http%3A%2F%2Fhistory.truechristian.church%2Fstories%2Fmm-of-an-edict-of-those-of-deventer-against-among-others-the-so-called-mennonists-or-anabaptists-a-d-1620%2F%0A%0ARecord%3A+mm-of-an-edict-of-those-of-deventer-against-among-others-the-so-called-mennonists-or-anabaptists-a-d-1620%0A%0ADate+currently+shown%3A+1620%0A%0A%23%23+Correction+or+addition%0A%0A%0A%0A%23%23+Sources+and+evidence%0APlease+include+book%2Fpage+references%2C+archive+links%2C+or+first-hand+documentation.%0A%0A%0A%0A%23%23+Image+credit+%28if+applicable%29%0ACreator%2C+source%2C+and+permission+or+public-domain+basis.%0A%0A%0A%0ASubmitted+for+review%3B+this+issue+does+not+publish+changes+automatically.)
