# The Schwarzenau Brethren

1708 · Overview

In August 1708, five men and three women gathered for baptism at the Eder River in Schwarzenau. Their movement combined influences from Anabaptism and Pietism.

This related history belongs in the wider timeline without treating every Brethren body as identical to the Mennonite, Amish, or Hutterite traditions.
