Eulalia of Emerita
Eulalia’s account belongs to the fourth-century persecution narratives. Martyrs’ Mirror describes her open confession of the one true God before the magistrates and her refusal to take part in idol worship at Emerita, also named Merida in the text.
She remained steadfast under punishment and was put to death. The heading supplies the date 302. The book’s illustration portrays her refusal of idol worship, giving the reader a direct path from the century guide to the account and its original image.
