Simon Peter

Peter appears in the first-century baptism passages as a preacher at Pentecost and as a witness to the reception of the gospel in the household of Cornelius. The account joins repentance and baptism with the gift of the Holy Spirit and the gathered life of believers.

Martyrs’ Mirror’s separate account follows his suffering and gives his crucifixion under Nero the date 69. The narrative and its illustration lead from the apostolic preaching in Acts to the witness at Rome remembered by the book.
