Evangelical Mennonite Brethren

A fellowship organized in North America in 1889, later named the Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches.

Aaron Wall of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, and Isaac Peters of Henderson, Nebraska, provided leadership to congregations shaped by renewal among Mennonites from the Russian Empire. Their first convention met on 14 October 1889. Three congregations joined in the new fellowship.

The fellowship emphasized conversion, biblical authority, church discipline, and evangelism. Its name became Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches in 1987. The institutional history and historical sketches record its development. The explorer keeps this line separate from both the Mennonite Brethren movement founded in 1860 and the Canadian conferences with similar evangelical names.
