Argentina became a focus of Mennonite mission study and planning early in the twentieth century. The photographed timeline records four missionaries being appointed and sent there in 1917. It does not name them, so their individual biographies cannot be supplied from this panel alone. The dated event is the beginning of this organized work.
Two years later, in 1919, a center opened at Pehuajó, in the agricultural region west of Buenos Aires. This gave the mission a local base. The account follows the work into the life of the Iglesia Evangélica Menonita Argentina, making clear that the story concerns the formation of congregations as well as the arrival of missionaries.
The panel reports a later membership of 4,500 in forty-five congregations, without providing a separate date for that count. Those numbers belong to the photographed source and should not be read as current statistics. The enduring historical connection is the work of sharing the Christian message and gathering a church community in Argentina, one part of the wider geographical reach of Anabaptist faith.
