Dutch Mennonite Conference: ADS

The Algemene Doopsgezinde Sociëteit brought Dutch Mennonite congregations into a shared association in 1811.

The Algemene Doopsgezinde Sociëteit (ADS) was founded in 1811 to support the training of ministers and provide financial help to congregations in need. The exhibit calls this continuing Dutch association the Dutch Mennonite Conference.

Its history belongs to the later cooperation of Dutch Mennonite congregations whose earlier names included Waterlander, Flemish, and Frisian. The association’s own account explains its shared structures and purposes. The explorer treats this as cooperation across older streams, with the individual congregations and historical distinctions still visible.
