Egly Amish and Evangelical Mennonite Church
Henry Egly’s Amish reform movement developed into the Defenseless Mennonites and later the Evangelical Mennonite Church.
Henry Egly led a group from an Amish congregation in Indiana in 1866, emphasizing new birth and salvation by faith. The movement became known as Egly Amish and adopted the Defenseless Mennonite name in 1908.
Its later name was Evangelical Mennonite Church, followed by Fellowship of Evangelical Churches in 2003. The institutional history describes education, service, and mission developments. The explorer preserves the older exhibit name and its Amish background, distinguishing it from the Canadian Evangelical Mennonite Conference.
