United Missionary Church and Missionary Church
The exhibit’s Mennonite Brethren in Christ line developed into United Missionary Church and joined a union in 1969.
The photographed chart follows nineteenth-century evangelical and holiness renewal through the Mennonite Brethren in Christ name. The Missionary Church’s own chronology records earlier unions of Mennonite-related groups and later adoption of the United Missionary Church name.
In 1969 the United Missionary Church united with the Missionary Church Association to form the Missionary Church. The explorer marks this as a union of particular organizations and a related history influenced by several traditions. It should be distinguished from Brethren in Christ and Mennonite Brethren, despite the resemblance of the older names.
