Mennonite Church: MC

The older Mennonite Church in North America developed from Swiss and German congregational histories.

The exhibit distinguishes Mennonite Church (MC) from General Conference Mennonite Church (GC). The older MC history belongs especially to Swiss and German congregations in North America, with migrations and settlement during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

The label describes a historical church body, rather than every church called Mennonite. In 2002, its U.S. congregations and those of the General Conference formed Mennonite Church USA. Other fellowships and national histories continued along their own paths.
