The Dordrecht Confession

The Third Confession printed near the beginning of Martyrs’ Mirror identifies itself as a statement drawn up at a peace convention at Dort on 21 April 1632. Its eighteen articles set out a shared confession of Christian faith and practice.

The articles address repentance, baptism, the church, ministry, communion, feet-washing, marriage, civil authority, nonresistance, oaths, discipline, and the resurrection. The supplied overview follows its later reception in Alsace, the Palatinate, and Pennsylvania and its continuing importance among Amish and Mennonite communities.
