George Blaurock asked Conrad Grebel to baptize him at the Zürich gathering of 21 January 1525 and then baptized the others present. The act expressed their commitment to become a fellowship of believers following Christ together.
Martyrs’ Mirror follows his preaching from Switzerland into Tyrol. Its 1529 account describes his arrest with companions and execution near Clausen, explaining that his rejection of infant baptism and the mass formed part of the charges. A separate admonition preserves the encouragement he left to those who would follow.
The same account tells how Jacob Huter served as a teacher in Tyrol and led people to Moravia amid persecution. That passage supplies a specific connection between the Swiss and Tyrolean stories and the communities later known as Hutterites.
