Conrad Grebel

Also searchable as: Konrad Grebel

Conrad Grebel belonged to the Zürich circle that sought a church ordered by the teaching and practice of the New Testament. On 21 January 1525, after prayer, he baptized George Blaurock upon his confession of faith. Blaurock then baptized the others who were present.

The gathering joined baptism to a shared commitment to follow Christ and teach the gospel. Grebel therefore connects the Zürich event with the beginnings of the Swiss Brethren, alongside Felix Manz and Blaurock. The dated entry here identifies that gathering rather than the whole span of his life.
