Zürich

Zürich was the setting of the 1525 believers’ baptisms and Felix Manz’s execution in 1527.

Also searchable as: Zurich · Zürich · Limmat

The gathered circle in Zürich included Conrad Grebel, Felix Manz, and George Blaurock. Their reading of Scripture and disagreement over infant baptism led to the baptisms of 21 January 1525. This is one of the central places in the Swiss Brethren history.

The Limmat appears in the account of Manz’s execution. These events connect the city to the later accounts of persecution and faithful witness. The linked pages preserve the historical source account and the names of those involved.
