Conservative Mennonite fellowships
A broad family of Mennonite fellowships maintaining distinctive church practices, with several different conference histories.
Conservative Mennonite describes several fellowships rather than one denomination with a single founding date. The photographed chart shows older Mennonite and Amish Mennonite lines from which different conservative histories developed.
These communities place importance on believers’ baptism, nonresistance, church discipline, and daily Christian practice. Dress, worship, organization, and relationships with other congregations vary. The Rosedale conference has its own dated history and should not be used as the name or origin of every conservative Mennonite group. This overview therefore uses a broad twentieth-century period, with particular fellowships identified separately in the explorer.
