Christian beginnings: baptism, fellowship, and witness

Acts begins this history with the preaching of Christ, repentance, baptism, fellowship, prayer, and care for one another. Martyrs’ Mirror’s first-century account brings together the baptisms at Pentecost, in Samaria, of the Ethiopian, of Saul, and in other households and communities.

Stephen’s witness at Jerusalem and the ministries of Peter and Paul give these beginnings named lives and places. The linked source passages preserve the scriptural references, while the profiles lead into the book’s accounts of suffering and steadfastness.
